LEIPA strengthens its sales activities by acquiring a holding in Gratenau & Hesselbacher

At the start of 2017, the LEIPA Group GmbH, Schwedt/Munich, acquired a 49 % holding in Gratenau & Hesselbacher GmbH, Hamburg, to strengthen the sales activities of the LEIPA group of companies, particularly in the overseas regions.

G&H has been established as a trading business since 1874 and has developed from a regional trading company into a global player. G&H combines a Hanseatic trading tradition with modern management, and along with its head offices in Hamburg it is also represented in the South American, African and Asian markets. This will supplement and extend the sales portfolio of the LEIPA group of companies with new sales markets for the LEIPA magazine paper, the test liner and the packaging solutions. In addition, new sources will also be available in the scope of the global supply and sourcing management.

“In a tough market environment, in recent years, LEIPA has succeeded in laying down a positive course of development. We will continue our solid growth – in terms of both the development of new products and solutions as well as accessing new markets and addressing new target groups. In G&H, we have found a reliable partner who shares our values and goals and who will bring a valuable network into the LEIPA group of companies,” explained Peter Probst, CEO of the LEIPA Group GmbH.

Peter Nysten, Managing Partner of G&H, added: “Together with my partners who will remain co-shareholders of G&H, I view our customer-oriented collaboration very positively: G&H will gain access to interesting LEIPA products for our established international markets. The access to new European markets in which LEIPA already has its own sales organisation will also provide G&H with an excellent opportunity to achieve future growth with LEIPA. Furthermore, we are also very pleased to support LEIPA with our global sourcing contacts.”
